We want to thank everyone who has put their time into advocating for Maryvale to house 29 families that are facing domestic abuse and homelessness.
Misinformation was defeated on October 22nd when Rosemead city council voted to approve Maryvale’s permit to increase its capacity of housing vulnerable families. Unfortunately, the orchestrators of the misinformation campaign can’t tolerate the idea of supporting families going through hard times, resorting to screaming at the city council meeting while causing Maryvale and its supporters to be escorted out by sheriffs.
Working class people of Rosemead continue to face hardships from rent tragedies, evictions, to the backlash of reactionary forces as seen with Maryvale. Maryvale was a victory, but it also laid bare to our neighbors the numerous facets of Rosemead’s community, facets such as David Liu’s conservative network that we now realize we are facing against. I want us to remain a team. If you want to ensure a better future for working class families in Rosemead, then be sure to keep in touch with us. For now, I hope you all have a great rest that you’ve earned. Recovering from a 6 PM to 4 AM city council meeting is not something you have to do everyday.
