Ole’s hardware store in Rosemead, 888 restaurant is now in this location.Bedon Cleaners, building is now Choice Granite.Toytown! The address is now the Rite Aid that closed, but think TT was also in the building next to Rite Aid.Griegorian Disposal Service (Rosemead/El Monte): Owned by Dick Griegorian, this sole proprietorship held historical municipal garbage and commercial rubbish collection contracts for cities like Rosemead and Baldwin Park during the 1960s. Its historical facilities were located near Valley Blvd in Rosemead and Durfee Ave in South El Monte. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]Howard’s Rug Company, the original location. It is now Mekon Medical Center, and the old sign is still standing. Fashion Park Apartments was sold to Golden Opportunity Investments in 2022, but it’s unknown if they still own the property. The company and apartment building was named in a lawsuit against Mike Nijjar by the State of California.The Californian Christian Home is now senior housing.Antique Ford Parts is still there, but hasn’t been open in years. I heard they still sell parts.Valley Tire Service is now Moncha Cafe and was something else before, but it was a tire store into the 2010s.“Enfrocement” – use some spellcheck.T&J was well known, but is no more. The Rosemead Beauty School with the discount haircuts is there now. At the end of the gallery, I have put a grainy photo of the restaurant.Left unknown, top right First Baptist, bottom right unknown.The Mission Liquor store is still there! Selling bottled joy is always a solid business plan. Just don’t get too high on your own supply.I looked up the restaurant, expecting another Chinese restaurant to be there, but there’s nothing at all. There’s a white building with no sign on it, but you can still see the post that the sign was installed on. It very much looks like a bar, rather than a Chinese restaurant.Pacific Electric Freight was a freightline that ran parallel to the legendary Red Cars. The line serving Rosemead probably ran along what is now the San Bernardino freeway, and went into LA along Mission. The Metrolink now runs along that route, but I don’t know if it’s the same right-of-way. The PE Freight system was shut down in 1965 and some parts taken over by Southern Pacific (now Union Pacific).Tur-Bo Jet is still around in the same building! Their history on their website indicates the influence of NAFTA: Rosemead CA 1948, Colfax CA 2002, Ensenada Mexico 2007, Mexicali Mexico 2017, Golden Valley AZ 2019, and Farmington NY 2019.La Victoria is still around, and you can find their products in supermarkets all over. They have faced a lot of competition, though. They invented the bottled salsa product in 1917, Salsa Brava.
